Digital Book File Sharing Grows In Online World

Most people are aware that due to digital piracy, the movie and music worlds are faced with problems. Since the MP3s have been around, it is very easy to get a lot of music just by downloading it free of charge.

By choosing to get the music for free, such as on a platform for sharing files or a torrent website, this definitely puts a hurting on the sales of a lot of artists. The same is true with the movie industry when the movies are recorded first by movie pirates before they upload them to the sharing platforms.

In recent times, e-books are now being shared by this same method and the problem continues to grow. This came about suddenly and quickly.

More and more books are being digitalized, and that makes it so easy to download them illegally from a file sharing site or a torrent and not have to pay for them.

Tablet PCs and the Kindle are pretty popular digital mediums that enable the proliferation of the books through digital means.

The publishing industry could be dealt a pretty bad blow by this activity; thus, folks should definitely stop and think about how illegal this is and what could happen.

Writers are only able to spend the time researching and writing their works because of the sales they can expect down the line. If the industry takes a hit, we may be left with a world devoid of much high quality writing as a result.

It is my belief that almost all of us do realize that we would surely be in a bad position if that should occur, so the best thing to do is to stop this illegal activity if you are doing it.

Since sales of e-books were above $37 million during the second quarter of 2009, it seems like this is an issue that regulators will be forced to grasp as the use of e-books continues to grow.

In addition to ebooks, this author also frequently writes regarding metal shelves for storage and glass display shelves.

E-learning and educational digital interactive games

“Play and games are fundamental to learning. From early age children learn about themselves and their environment through explorative play, constructional play or role play.”

Multimedia games are increasingly popular amongst children, teenagers and adults alike. The game arcades and home computers are full of game applications, yet the content of these games is in most cases of no educational value and often violent, offensive or otherwise questionable.

Formula D Interactive utilizes multimedia games for educational content thus facilitating youth culture for the benefit of education. Educational games add fun and playful competition to any matter that needs to be communicated. Game applications can be designed for various formats, such as internet, CD-ROM, DVD, cell phones, touch screen kiosks or large scale interactive projections and educational exhibitions. Interactive educational games often interlink with e-learning applications, which make use of game structures to allow users to test their knowledge.

E-Learning does not replace a teacher or parent, nor can it do any other forms of magic. However, our properly designed e-learning courses are by far more than digital text books or instructional videos. Formula D Interactive designs effective multimedia for learning that combines different media formats and technologies in well reasoned ways taking advantage of each mediums unique characteristics.

E-learning courses may run on the internet, corporate intranets, CD-ROM, DVD or cell phones, depending on the distribution channel most suitable for the target group. Applications include sound, animated graphics and video if possible as these media have proven to be more memorable and thus enhances the learning effect. Interactive learning activities supported by electronic feedback systems foster a greater involvement of learners who are in constant dialogue with the course as opposed to “consuming” a presentation. All learning applications can be linked to databases, recording learner activity and assessments. Teachers and administrators review and manage all entries through a central admin console.

Formula D Interactive is experienced in conceptualizing, designing and implementing e-learning courses for large corporations and public institutions. Possible applications include corporate induction programmes, remote studies, corporate training courses, manuals and maintenance guidelines for machinery and equipment

Are Mac Computers Better Performers Than PCs?

It has been over twenty years now since computers became a part of my life. It is so hard to remember what it was like before they came along. They sure have improved a great deal over time.

Gone are those earlier and much slower computers that required disks to be able to operate. Now you can get very reasonably-priced super machines, and the world does rely on them.

I used PCs growing up and the Windows-based systems were what I was comfortable using for such a long time. I really had quite an easy time utilizing all of the software that was available and knew what I was doing.

It wasn’t until a bit later that I ended up deciding to give a Mac a chance instead. I had heard about the benefits of using these computers for quite some time.

People said they wouldn’t slow down like a PC does, and they said that they wouldn’t be exposed to viruses either. I’d have a computer that lasted longer, which would offset the fact that I was paying nearly twice the price for one.

I made the decision to purchase one because of the recommendations from so many of my friends. When all is said and done, this is what I can relay to you regarding this decision. I am so glad that I chose to do it.

Yes, I do miss my PC, as well as all the important pieces of software that I ran on it; however, I have just discovered the way to alleviate that problem. All you need to do is install a piece of software, such as VMware or Parallels, and then you can do that same thing by yourself.

If you have been looking to get a new computer, try a Mac. It is official – after so many years of using PCs, I am a converted Apple lover. I now have a computer that is healthier and runs so much faster, and, this is a first, the computer is not showing signs of aging after a couple of years.

DTV4PC FAQ Answered

As the TV for PC phenomenon continues to spread around the world, many people are beginning to embrace the idea of watching TV on their computers. Many wonder about the details that make this possible.

There’s probably a lot you’re wondering about DTV4PC and how it works. Let’s go into some of the details about it as I think you’ll have a clear understanding by the end of my review.

First of all, let me explain the basics about DTV4PC. This is a service that gives you lifetime access to over 2,300 TV stations that you can stream and watch from your computer. As long as the software is installed on your computer, you can watch whatever you want.

To get started, you don’t need to install wires or anything complicated. This just involves a simple download of the digital PC for TV software onto your computer. From there, the program self installs and you’ll be good to go, never having to pay anything extra to keep it all running.

There are a lot of great channels offered through DTV4PC. Many people who buy it are looking for international stations, but there’s a lot more to it than that. With over 2,300 stations featured through the service, you’ll have access to just about every genre of TV.

You’ll appreciate some of the major names included in the package too. There’s MTV, CNN, ESPN, CNBC, PBS, Bloomberg, the Cartoon Network, and a lot more, making it a really great deal for the price.

I should also mention that the service has been much improved ever since the new DTV4PC 2 launched in October 2009. The streams and picture quality are better than before, and there are more channels to watch.

All in all, I’ll close out my DTV4PC review with this. If you’re in another country and looking for TV stations that you can’t get access to, this is a great product. If you can’t afford cable TV and you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, this will give you thousands of channels without the monthly fee. Check it out and enjoy.

Computer System Security

Today, more and more individuals are using their computers for everything from emailing to online banking and investing to searching. As we do these things on a more regular footing, we open ourselves to prospective hackers, attackers and crackers.

While some may be hoping to phish your personal information and identity for resale, others want to use your computer as a platform from which to attack other unsuspecting targets. Below are a few simple, cost-effective steps you can take to keep your computer more secure.

1. Always make backups of important information and store it in a secure location away from your computer.

2. Update and patch your operating system, web browser and software frequently. If you have a Windows operating system, start by going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and running the update wizard. This program will help you find the latest patches for your Windows operating system. Also go to officeupdate.microsoft.com to locate possible patches for your Microsoft Office programs.

3. Set up a firewall. Without a good firewall, viruses, worms, Trojans, malware and adware can all access your computer from the Internet with no trouble. Consideration should be given to the benefits and differences between hardware and software based firewall programs.

4. Review your browser and email settings for maximum security. Why should you do this? Active-X and JavaScript are often used by hackers to plant malicious software into your computer. While cookies are relatively harmless in terms of security matters, they can still track your movements on the Internet to build a profile of you. As a minimum precaution, adjust your security setting for the ?Internet zone? to High, and your ?trusted sites zone? to Medium Low.

5. Install antivirus software and set for automatic updates so that you get the most recent versions.

6. Do not open unidentified email attachments. It is simply not sufficient that you may know the address from which it originates because many viruses can be spread from a familiar address.

7. Do not run programs from unknown origins. Also, do not send these kinds of programs to friends and colleagues because they contain funny or amusing stories or jokes. They may contain a Trojan horse just waiting to infect a computer.

8. Disable hidden filename extensions. By default, the Windows operating system is set to ?hide file extensions for known file types?. Disable this option so that file extensions display in Windows. Some file extensions will, by default, continue to stay hidden, but you are more likely to see any strange file extensions that do not belong.

9. Turn off your computer and disconnect from the network when not using the computer. A hacker can not attack your computer if you are disconnected from the network or the computer is off.

10. Make a boot disk on a floppy disk or CD in case your computer is damaged or infected by a malicious program. Clearly, you have to take this precaution before you are subject to a hostile breach of your system security.
