Many webmasters only test their sites design in the browser they use but this is a serious mistake. Not only do you need to test in different browsers but the different versions of each. For example older versions of internet explorer render some designs very differently than the latest one. You really have to test them all to know.

My last tip is to make sure your design and theme is consistent across all pages. There’s nothing more unprofessional than a site which changes font or colour depending on which page you’re on. Remember if you want people to buy from your store or make an enquiry they need to trust that you are a professional and well designed site is part of that.

An ideal location for your work desk is facing the wall with the door and window on the left and right side of you. This way the distractions are lessened because of light shining through the window and the door being visible but not right in your face.

Bookshelves are a necessary pieces of gear to have for an home office. Try and keep it as close by your desk as possible for the simple fact of convenience. The fewer number of times you need to get up from your desk and work means less interruptions. Keep the bookshelf organized and uncluttered so you can always find what you need when you need it.

This same principle goes for your other equipment also. Try to place the your phone, printer, fax, copier and other necessary pieces of office furniture close by your desk area. The fewer times you need to get up from your chair the better. You will better focused on your work and have less distractions.

One piece of great advise for someone who has a family in the home when they are doing their daily work from home, get a dry message board to hang on the door. This way your family can write messages on the board when they need to leave a message for you instead of them coming into your office space and distracting you from your work.
