The fewer number of times you need to get up from your desk and work means less interruptions. Keep the bookshelf organized and uncluttered so you can always find what you need when you need it.

This same principle goes for your other equipment also. Try to place the your phone, printer, fax, copier and other necessary pieces of office furniture close by your desk area. The fewer times you need to get up from your chair the better. You will better focused on your work and have less distractions.
