Effective Brochure Design Tips For Those New In Business

Have you ever thought that a pamphlet can be one of the most influential of all your marketing materials?

It is a simple piece of paper but the original impact that your brochure makes is profound. If it’s shabby and subfusc your prospect is left with the same feeling. This will weaken your business development.

Having a brochure professionally designed and printed is a key to success in a crowded market. Taking the time to make sure that your pamphlet presents all the key information in a way that is easily figured is something that only a professional can do.

If you are just starting out in business you may be tempted to do your pamphlet yourself. When I first started in business I did everything myself – not a good choice. That is why it took me 12 years before I was even relatively prosperous. Heed my warning – go professional from day one on your merchandising materials. They are an investment and not an expense. Professionally designed materials will deliver you customers and the cash flow to follow – the reason why you are in business.

A booklet has to use eye-catching design. It has to be succinct in terms of the message and last but not the least, it must be successful in tempting people to make that call of action.

Here are three key design rules to follow when creating a leaflet. Use them and you will see your results flow.

1. The cover:

The cover is your salesperson. Brochures are quite passive creatures and you are not often able to ‘walk’ people through your brochure. So you need to stimulate people to read further. The cover is the beginning point so must be inviting and sharing the KEY values of WHY someone should read further. It should answer the WIFM question – What’s in it for me.

A good design company will show you at least three to four cover designs for your brochure. Examine these designs to see which energizes you the most. Ask your protagonists their impression. Does the cover answer the question WIFM? If it doesn’t arouse and answer the WIFM question, then skip to another design that works or get it redesigned. Taking the time here to get it right will pay premiums later.

2. The Content:

Once they are past the front page then the message has to become the sales representative. So once again, the pressure is on to be great. Do not opt for cheap uneffective content writers or ask the designer to write the content or worst still do it yourself. Instead make sure that a professional copywriter is doing the work. If your design company does not have a copywriter then employ one yourself.

Check Out that all the big questions that a likely customer will have about your merchandise are answered in a way that gets them to call you for more information. Do not go into ‘overkill mode’ and inundate them with too much data at this point in time. Remember the brochure’s job is to stimulate and get people to call you.

3. The call for action:

If your future client has read the pamphlet then you have done a good job. All you need to do now is give them a compelling reason to contact you NOW.

Having things like a free call 0800 or’00 number clearly shown (in big letters) can make a essential difference. Having an email address is a clear bonus. Make sure these two are clearly placed in large clear type.

Even give your customers a special coupon on the pamphlet or reference code can help. But above all, make sure that you add a clear call to action. One way to do this is to readdress the KEY value of your service to your prospect in a way that will get them to take action. Remember value is everything. People only buy something that is of value to THEM.

4. The bit that got missed:

I did this on purpose and only said there were 3 points. Well the final point is the one that can get neglected. It is the ‘dummy’ one. Have you checked that you have these on your pamphlet:

Phone number | Fax number | Email address | Web address | Country of operation | City / area of operation | Company name | And have you proof read for typo and grammar errors?

Take Your Company Public for Less Than $15,000

OK, you’re ready to take your company to the next level and your CFO and legal counsel have advised you to go public to raise capital as well as to retain some of those prize employees with stock options and to bait that new sales executive with a signing bonus made up of stock options. You’ve looked into everything from pink sheets to reverse mergers to OTCBB to IPO and you have come to the conclusion you’re going to need to take on investors so that you can afford to follow through with your plan. If you’re lacking the funds to dive right in and start creating your public structure, here is a way that just about any business can afford to go public.

First, get a real business plan. Your business plan needs to sizzle and reel in the investor and clearly paint a picture of your vision to the investor and their advisors. Next, you’ll want to raise an initial round of cash quickly so that you can afford to take your company public without hindering your current company structure with additional ancillary costs. You’re going to need something fast and affective; you should consider having a professionally authored private placement memorandum put together for your company.

If you are trying to go public via OTCBB a Regulation D Rule 504 exemption will suffice, if you are trying to achieve an IPO you’ll need to go with a Regulation D Rule 505 exemption (pink sheets and reverse mergers into shell corps are not very successful in immediate and long term success so I would suggest you stay away from these structures). Build into the PPM verbiage that you are raising an initial round of capital that will be used to take your company public. When savvy investors see that they are investing in a real, viable pre-IPO or pre-OTCBB formation you will see investors climbing out of the woodwork to give you cash if your business concept is sound.

Next you hire the consultants (usually the same firm that wrote your PPM) to start the process of taking you public. On the PPM your Mini/Maxi should allow you to use capital almost immediately to get the ball rolling on your public company. You can count on a solid OTCBB going for between $75k and $250k and an IPO going for $1M+ so have your PPM written accordingly. If you follow the path set forth above you will notice something extraordinary.

The only out of pocket expense you had was for your Private Placement Memorandum (and your business plan if you didn’t have one) and 100% of the capital needed to go public was supplied by greedy investors who are excited to invest because of the quick payoff of their investment when you go public. This process means you can literally take your company public for less than $5,000 (the typical cost of a strategic Private Placement Memorandum. This is a simple, strategic and inexpensive way to get the capital you need for your company quickly, without using your limited financial resources in the process.

$5,000 can Take Your Company Public, Call Princeton Corporate Solutions at 267-233-0183 OTCBB, IPO and PPM we do it all.

Choosing The Right CMS

A website designer may utilize a Content Management System — CMS — when building a site so that regular maintenance and updates can be conducted by the client. A site may be produced that enables the client to catalog and update personnel information, create schedules, and maintain other content without ever learning HTML

You can choose from several CMS systems, and some of them are even free – and many of the free ones are quite good, actually. Choose which one to use based on the website you need. This list isn’t complete. There are a number of Content Management Systems to choose from. Read the information at the provider’s website to make sure that a specific CMS suits your needs.

Joomla can be used for many things. You can use it for any kind of site. Whether we are talking about a site for personal purposes or business (large or small) purposes, e-zines or other publications, all the way up to E-commerce websites. However, if the purpose of your site is going to be e-commerce, you may do better with a dedicated e-commerce package like Zen Cart or osCommerce. It is simple to install Joomla especially if your web host has Fantastico, in which case the setup can be totally automatic.

Website Baker is PHP-based and designed for simplicity. Because it’s PHP based, if you know PHP, you may change pages to do precisely want you wish it to do. Otherwise, you’ll want to hire/contract a PHP programmer (don’t panic, PHP programmers may be a lot cheaper and easier to find than you think — check out guru.com); there are also many add-ons that may be installed onto a Website Baker site including message boards, photo albums, catalog, accept online payments, plus many more.

Drupal. Avoid Drupal unless you are an expert or have special training in how to use it. They even confess on their web page that it takes a while to learn the program.

Mambo is very versatile, easy to use, and popular. You can obtain a number of themes from which you can create a good website with only minor changes.

phpWebSite is very versatile and powerful. Document manager, photo album, polls, calendar and a form generator are some of the add-ons that are included. There is a certain learning curve involved, as with all Content Management Systems. You won’t have a lot of customizing options if you don’t have any PHP familiarity.

Website Design Principles – Learning The Basics Of Web Design

How long have you been on the Internet? I bet you’ve see it change plenty of times if you started in the early to mid’90s. Because the concept of a ‘website’ so fascinated users, it didn’t really matter what it looked like. It really takes a lot to stand out from the crowd with so many websites emerging.

But hey you can! There are some basic things to consider in these modern days of the Internet. I believe its somewhere in the 90% of the people have high speed Internet which is the first thing to consider. In case you don’t know, there are a lot of companies would ‘optimize’ any images on their sites by making them very poor quality because they would load faster. This is unnecessary with faster Internet speeds. Just don’t use big file types if you can keep from it.

Since most people’s computer screens are getting much bigger, you need to consider the resolutions. Almost all computers see resolutions of 1024-768, and 1280-1024 is gaining popularity. The point here is, the standard size for websites used to be 800 or 780 pixels wide. You have a captive audience that came to YOUR website. So, you need to fill the page. To fill your screen with content, use the new standard of 980 pixels wide. Try a clean look; this is NOT to say you need to add more content to the bigger area. You’re bound to have a less cluttered and clean website look by putting the same amount of buttons, words and images in the bigger website size.

By using images from iStockPhoto.com, Corbis.com or for FREE stock images go to my favorite, www.sxc.hu site, you can get a really professional look and feel to your website (if you’re on a budget and can’t afford a web designer). Using free website templates could be the perfect starting point for you to make a beautiful web presence.

Your market, your product or service, how you want to advertise for it, and the main purpose of the website (an opt-in or sale) are the things that you need to consider when it comes to internet marketing. Want to get off to the right start, why not check out all our articles on web design.

Why Using Scripts For Your Website Is A Good Idea

Using scripts for your website can be a great idea. There are many options available for you too. Scripts can do practically anything you want them to. You can get scripts for free, but the quality might not be as good as scripts that you pay for. Scripts that you pay for can also be much better at performing the tasks they are designed for and at helping you create a great website.

You can get scripts to make your site more functional, or you can get scripts to help your online business. There are scripts that make it easy for you to sell pictures or other kinds of online products. You can add search engine scripts to your website that make your site appear more professional and make it easier to navigate. You can even add scripts to provide music for your visitors. You can use scripts to insert movie-streaming capabilities into your website too. Scripts are also useful for hosting files and sharing other types of information.

Scripts are commonly used to increase the user’s ability to communicate with other users. When you go into a forum online, you will see many different types of scripts being used. Webmasters also like to use scripts to improve their ability to monitor the traffic on their website.

You may be worried about scripts being too complicated. Scripts for your website will actually make the construction and design process of your website much simpler. By using scripts, you will be automating various parts of your website. Many scripts can also help you simplify the layout of your design. This is why scripts are commonly used for complex websites, because they simplify the process of providing content.

People who have no experience in building websites can use scripts and build websites that are comparable to what web gurus have. Scripts take the hassle out of designing and organizing websites. But should you have trouble with installation, there are professionals who will be happy to do this task for you at a reasonable fee.

If you use profit-generating scripts, you could be making money instantly without even understanding exactly how your website operates. Try using a script for a while to see if it’s really what you want. If not, there are plenty of others available for you to use.

Many webmasters use scripts to help them learn the way their visitors are moving around their site. By using this information, they can increase the effectiveness of their ads. When you keep track of the traffic on your website, you will be able to fine-tune each aspect of your layout and design. When you understand what is happening on your website, you are in a better position to manage and handle your traffic. That’s why scripts are great for improving your website’s quality.

One advantage of having a script to provide you with statistics is that you can use the results to help you decide whether other scripts on your site are providing a benefit. By selecting scripts properly, you could be on your way to making greater profits in the future. For help in choosing a script, and particularly in finding one that you can install yourself, see the box below.

Looking for scripts for your website? I will only give you scripts that I have tested myself and that I can vouch for. You can see lots of them in use right on my own scripts for websites blog.

Why Choose A Lower Back Tattoo

Whatever the size you want your tattoo to be, there is no doubt that the best body part to get them inked is your lower back. Your lower back is not only a huge canvas that can accommodate a large and wonderful tattoo; moreover it is an appealing spot to ensure that your body art will boldly represent your convictions and belief in the most efficient way.

Your lower back is a very convenient and flexible location for tattoo placement. This is because you can easily hide a tattoo in the lower back when the need arises. For instance, you are going to attend formal gatherings or corporate functions; you’ll never have a difficult time figuring out how you can hide your tattoo, because you just simply need to wear clothing that hides your lower back. The comfort in showing and hiding a lower back tattoo is a definite advantage of getting one.

The size of the area allows a great deal of flexibility in the design.

The most popular designs for lower back body art are tribal imageries, flowers, crosses and animals. These designs may be drawn in huge or small pieces depending on your preference. Flowers are very popular to women, so if you’re a girl who would like to show you feminine side, this may be best for you.

Among the animal images, dolphins are very popular. Lower back tattoos are often chosen by women who have an affinity for the beach because dolphins are a symbol of the sea. Butterfly designs are another top pick whether for a smaller center tattoo or a large design.

Some women prefer dragons with sinuous lines. Fairies and roses and occasionally hearts can all be used in lower back tattoos. The tattoos can be a picture which relates a story, or simply an attractive design.

Women may chose a lower back tattoo as an expression of their sexuality. Lower back tattoos bring attention to a woman’s buttocks and hips, and may act as a sexual signal by drawing the attention of men to the area. The sexual connotation of the lower back tattoo may be one reason that it is inappropriate to display it in formal or work settings. Men who have tattoos on their lower backs generally have them as a extension of a larger back tattoo.

If you are considering a lower back tattoo, avoid trendy designs or names. The tattoo will be there even when your current boyfriend is not. Classic designs never go out of style and won’t lead to embarrassing questions. Tattoos are permanent and will be with you for the rest of your life.

Because the tattoo process involves penetrating the skin, there is the possibility of infection. It’s important to follow your tattoo artists directions for keeping your art clean and dressed for several days after you receive your tattoo. The location of the tattoo may make it necessary for you to enlist help since you won’t be able to easily reach it yourself.

Deciding on the right design can be difficult. Visit Internet tattoo websites and local tattoo artists and take you time in making your decision. After all you have a lifetime to live with your tattoo, make sure your tattoo is something you can love now and forever.

Cheaponsale.com Reports Chipmaker SMIC’s Founder-CEO Chang Steps Down

China’s largest contract chipmaker, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC), said yesterday that its long-serving CEO has stepped down, in a bid to restructure the company that had posted losses over the past two years.

Richard Chang, the company’s founder, will leave the firm to pursue other interests, according to a statement from SMIC. Chang will be replaced by David Wang, a 63-year-old director at Solar Fun Power Holdings.

Chang’s resignation came shortly after the Shanghai-based chip maker said it would pay rival, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), $200 million as part of a deal to settle a long-running legal dispute.

TSMC and SMIC yesterday informed a judge in Oakland, California, that they had settled a case in which TSMC accused SMIC of stealing trade secrets. SMIC also agreed to pay TSMC an undisclosed amount in stock and warrants.

Founded in 2000 by Chang, SMIC is the largest foundry in the mainland and gets significant support from the Chinese government, which has long been trying to build up its high-value-added technology industries.

However, after getting off to a relatively strong start, SMIC has languished over the last few years, as competition with more established rivals such as TSMC and the industry’s second largest player UMC intensified. SMIC recorded 16 quarterly losses over the last 17 quarters.

The company last month reported its third quarter loss widened to $69.3 million as the global recession damped chip demand. Chang said last month that the company was expected to post a full-year profit in 2010 as depreciation costs drop and orders increase.

According to SMIC, Wang is a former executive at Applied Materials, the world’s leading supplier of chipmaking equipment. From 2006 to 2007, Wang headed Huahong NEC, another Chinese chipmaker. Reuters said in a report that the appointment of Wang could pave the way for consolidation in China’s chip sector, citing industry analysts.

3 Locations Where Your Favicon is Shown

Do you want to see all the places where a favicon can be displayed? Then, just follow along, and I’ll show you.

Let me give you two URLs. They happen to be two of my favorite websites, but most likely you’ve never heard of either of them. If you do happen to have visited one of them before, just pick the other one for this demonstration. That’s so you can watch the favicon come up out of nowhere when your browser finds it and puts it where it’s supposed to go. I’ll give you the URLS, but you need to wait! Don’t do anything until I tell you!

URL1: www.stormcarib.com

URL2: www.triddlers.com

1st Place: the Address Bar

OK. Are you ready? First, I want you to open a new tab in your browser, or a new window if you don’t have tabbed browsing. Then type the URL you chose into the Address Bar. Watch carefully, and you’ll see the favicon suddenly appear! It will be to the left of the URL you just typed.

2nd Place: the Tab Bar

Look at the browser tab. You should see the favicon right to the left of the title. If you don’t have a tabbed browser, then you’ll just have to miss seeing this favicon location.

3rd Place: Bookmarks or Favorites

If you’ve never been to this URL before, it obviously won’t be in your bookmarks yet. So click on ‘Favorites’, then ‘Add to Favorites’. Now just click ‘Add’. Go back to ‘Favorites’, and you should see your new favorite at the bottom of the list, with its favicon just to the left.

If you have recently made a favicon of your own, and it doesn’t appear in any of the three places where it should be, don’t despair! This happens all the time. Here’s what to do:

1) Clear your cache.

2) If you still can’t find your favicon, close and reopen your browser.

3) If that fails also, then there can be only two reasons: a) The browser that you’re using doesn’t use favicons at all, which is not very likely, or b) Your favicon is FAKE!

I know it may say ‘favicon.ico’, but that doesn’t mean it’s a REAL favicon. You need to create a favicon in the correct manner, else it won’t act like a favicon is supposed to. Take a look below for more info.

Here’s where to go to create a favicon to use on your own website. Visit my blog at ScriptsForYourWebsite.com for lots of great easy-to-use scripts and plugins for your own blog.
